Porthgwidden is one of St Ives' smaller beaches, although at low tide it can still appear quite large. It is located to the south of the Island with the much bigger, wilder Porthmeor beach on the other side.
The Island is the headland you can see and is home to a Coastwatch lookout station and the diminutive Chapel of St Nicholas. It isn't an island though!
