Porthgwidden is what I consider St Ives' third beach after Porthminster and Porthmeor (which is actually just around the headland here).
All these beaches have very different characters and Porthgwidden has a cosier, sheltered feel - certainly when compared to Porthmeor. Sitting in the lee of the Island Porthgwidden is sheltered from both the wind and most of the swell.
Here we see the beach on a winter evening just after the sun had put in its last showing for the day.
