Dolcoath mine in Redruth was an amalgamation of several mines and at the time was the biggest and deepest in Cornwall. Originally a copper mine it grew to become one of the duchy's most productive tin mines.
The mine shut in 1921 as tin prices fell due to competition from overseas.
