Cotehele Gatehouse

The fortified gatehouse at Cotehele leads into the grandeur of the courtyard and Great Hall beyond.

This fortification reflects the house's status as a fortified manor house, that is one capable of resisting a small attack force.

The house dates back to the 1300s but was mostly constructed towards the end of the 15th century. It is now one of the National Trust's finest houses in Cornwall
