Carn Euny Fogou tunnel

A look down the main tunnel which forms the impressive 20 metre long fogou at Carn Euny. This Iron Age structure is fairly unique both in terms of its size and state of preservation.

These structures are not found outside of the far west of Cornwall and their exact purpose still remains something of a mystery. Given that the passage aligns with the Midsummer sun, and the amount of effort to build the fogou it is likely its purpose was ritualistic.
