Located on the banks of the River Tamar about 10 miles north of Plymouth and the sea is the small town of Calstock. In the past Calstock was a busy port with areas of mining to the east in Tavistock and the west around Callington.
Even in Victorian times there was tourism in Calstock due to its location on this navigable stretch of river. Today Calstock is still well worth a visit, particularly via the water
