The Bar is a sandy stretch linking the island of St Agnes with the smaller island of Gugh. At higher tides the sandbar becomes covered by the sea - when this happens swimming becomes dangerous.
This is probably the most popular beach on St Agnes, but bear in mind this photo was taken in the middle of the school holidays so you should be able to find somewhere to put your towel down!
The scientific name for this type of sandbar is a "tombolo", and it is called the Gugh Bar,
