Porthleven Storm - January 2014

The South Coast fishing village of Porthleven generally takes a battering when there's a south westerly storm. This one was particularly destructive and came with a massive ground swell.

The building is "the Institute" and that's the road in front. There were waves running up the harbour and actually topping the wall onto the road.

If you look at the waves in the background you'll notice there actually backwash waves heading back out to sea after slamming into the sea wall and cliffs. Definitely not somewhere you'd want to be!
