Porthleven in Cornwall on the 6th January 2014, the day Winter Storm Hercules hit. This was the biggest storm to hit Cornwall in many years and little did we know at the time that there would be more of the same for the next 6 weeks.

I got to Porthleven in time for high tide as I knew this would be when the waves were at their most spectacular. Whilst the winds were only around force 7-8 there was a huge ground swell running. It's hard to really understand the extremity of this weather unless you are familiar with Porthleven, but take my word these were pretty exceptional conditions.
