Rocky Valley Labyrinth

One of the 2 labyrinths carved into the rock face of Rocky Valley near Tintagel. The carvings are located behind a derelict 18th century mill on the eastern banks of the river Trevillett.

There is some discussion on the origins of the carvings with 3 camps. Some believe they date back to the Bronze Age, being similar to carvings seen in Galicia from that era. Others say they would have required harder metal tools and given their good state of preservation are Celtic.

The third school of thought is the rock face here was cut back when the mill was built and that these mazes were carved at that time.
